Why Google is not in E-Commerce?

Google Shopping
Google Shopping, formerly Google Product SearchGoogle Products and Froogle, is a Google service which allows users to search for products on online shopping websites and compare prices between different vendors.

Google for Retail
Google for Retail is a resource center to help businesses make the most of Google’s retail tools. Google for Retail can help business owners learn how to upload their advertising inventory. It can help them manage their products, advertise local inventory and become a trusted Google store. It can help them effectively use Google AdSense and more.

Google Checkout
Google Checkout was an online payment processing service provided by Google aimed at simplifying the process of paying for online purchases. Users would store their credit or debit card and shipping information in their Google Account, so that they could purchase at participating stores by clicking an on-screen button.

Unfortunately none were successful. Other than showing ads Google has often struggled in making money out of other businesses.
Even in the cloud business, where it has among the best technology and experience, it is coming a distant third. And it could not dislodge Dropbox from a key strength area of Google storage. Google could have done what Uber did using its maps to connect consumers with drivers willing to take a ride. But, they didn’t.
Ecommerce is not merely about understanding user preferences, it is about negotiating with the suppliers, shippers and moving stuff from their factories to your home.
Considering these scenarios it is not surprising that Google doesn’t want to compete with Amazon in its home ground.
